The Kearny Scots continued their dominating performance, winning their fourth consecutive league title for the Metropolitan Division. The Schroeder Cup did not come to them without a fight however, as the greatly improved Philadelphia German-Americans fought with them right to the end; the teams finished tied for points, but Kearny had the better winning percentage. Right behind these two were Brookhattan and Baltimore SC, who had tied for second the previous season. The New York Americans fell to sixth place, but overall there was little change in final standings from the previous season. There was no double this year as the Philadelphia German-Americans took the Lewis Cup. Fabri Salcedo was the league's top scorer with 17 goals. In early fall of 1941, Puentes Grandes of Cuba toured the northeast US coast playing several ASL teams, going 2-1-3 in the process (see results below). The New England Division struggled on as in previous seasons. Final standings are not available, but as of December 29, 1940, Pawtucket FC and Fall River were locked in a battle at top, well ahead of the other teams. Pawtucket would go on to win the National Challenge Cup. The New England division disbanded after this season, having never been much of a success and the teams dispersed to the local amateur leagues.
