A defender who played in the American Soccer League from 1936 to 1949.
Weir, who emigrated from Scotland in 1930 at the age of 19, played for St. Mary’s Celtic of Brooklyn, the New York Americans, the Brooklyn Wanderers and Brookhattan Galicia during his ASL career. He was captain of the St. Mary’s Celtic team that reached the final of the U.S. Open Cup in 1938.
He later was a successful coach with several teams in the National Soccer League of New York, and served as president of that league in 1968.
Inducted in 1975.
