Willy Schaller

A defender who represented the United States in the 1952 Olympic Games in Finland and the 1959 Pan-American Games in Chicago.

Schaller, who was born in Germany and came to America as a child, played most of his career in the German-American Soccer League of New York, particularly with Blau-Weiss Gottschee. He appeared in many GASL selections against touring foreign teams, and also played on Blau-Weiss Gottschee’s 1960 tour of Austria.

At the 1959 Pan-Am Games, where the United States team achieved a surprising bronze medal finish, Schaller played in the American victories of 7-2 over Haiti and 5-0 over Cuba.
