Matthew Boxer

A Northern California soccer official in the middle of the 20th century who held various positions on the San Francisco soccer scene.

He was particularly involved in managing the visits to California of a number of touring European teams and played a large role in gaining local government financial support for the building of soccer facilities. Boxer, who was born in Russia and emigrated to the United States from China, played for several San Francisco clubs before turning to administration. He served as president of the San Francisco Football Association and Junior Soccer Commissioner for the USSFA.

Inducted in 1961.
