Jack Maher

A trainer, referee and administrator in Chicago soccer for decades.

Maher was trainer of the Chicago Sparta club in its professional years from 1927 to 1938, including its U.S. Open Cup victory in 1938, and of Chicago area all-star teams.

As an administrator, he was president of the Peel Cup association for 10 years, president of the National Soccer League of Chicago and involved with Chicago-area youth soccer efforts.

As a referee, he handled the 1948 U.S. Open Cup final between Simpkins of St. Louis and Brookhattan of New York, and was president of the Illinois Referees Association.

Inducted in 1970.
