A midfielder who played in the American Soccer League from 1933 to 1962, and won five league championships with the Philadelphia Americans in the 1940s and ’50s.
Mieth, who emigrated from Germany as a teenager in 1925, began playing in 1930 for Newark Germans in the German-American Soccer League of New York. He won league titles with them in 1931, 1932 and 1933, and then stayed with them when they moved into the American Soccer League later in 1933. Over the next three decades, he played for a succession of other ASL teams, Kearny Irish, Trenton Highlanders, Paterson Dovers, Philadelphia Americans and Elizabeth Falcons. His greatest years came as part of the Philadelphia Americans dynasty in the 1940s. He won ASL titles with that team in 1942, 1944, 1947, 1948 and 1952.
