Call for Papers and Presentations
Society for American Soccer History Symposium
April 18-19, 2020

The Society for American Soccer History is accepting proposals for its next symposium to be held on April 18 and 19, 2020 at Rutgers University-Newark.

The Society works to promote, facilitate, and disseminate research into the rich history of soccer in the United States. Papers can investigate, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Early American Soccer
  • Monuments, Museums and Archives
  • World Cups
  • Soccer and Labor Relation
  • Youth Soccer
  • High School and College Soccer
  • Memory
  • Race, Class, Gender and/or Ethnicity
  • Culture
  • Family History
  • Pro Soccer
  • Major League Soccer at 25

The following presentation styles are welcomed:

  • Fifteen plus Five—fifteen minutes of presentation slides plus five minutes of questions.
  • Short Form—seven minutes of presentation slides which is ideal to summarize research or present early findings.

Please send a 200-300 word abstract for a presentation to info@ussoccerhistory.org by the deadline of March 1, 2020. Include the title of the paper, presenter’s name and brief biography, and e-mail address in the proposal. Accepted speakers will be notified by March 15, 2020.
