Had the honor and pleasure of Pele calling me my friend. I covered the Cosmos from their beginning in 1971 until 1978 for two daily newspapers in New Jersey. Traveled with the team and on a 24-hour basis lived with this giant legend. I never saw him turn down an autograph or a handshake. And when in Greece working for AFP as a sport writer 27 years after I said goodbye to him and the Cosmos in 1978, he remembered me and said “Lou how are you my friend.” This was the greatest reward from a friend.
