UPDATE, Sept. 24, 2020: Thanks to the generosity of all who contributed we reached our goal and were able to license the footage!

Recently, Society for American Soccer History members brought to light historic footage of the United States Men’s National Soccer team’s first-ever match. The footage from 1916 came from the archives of the Swedish Film Institute. The film can be seen here: https://youtu.be/A5loObxUF3k

The cost to obtain the footage is 200 Euros. We know that at least one and possibly more clips of Bethlehem Steel’s 1919 tour of Sweden are also available for the same price of 200 Euros. We are raising money to pay the costs of obtaining these three film clips. If we are successful the videos will be posted along with other material on the SASH website and on the society’s YouTube channel.

Any funds raised over the requested amount will be used to support SASH’s ongoing projects including the website and our First Friday Zoom sessions.
